ABOUT US
The British & Commonwealth Society of Rio de Janeiro is a non-profit civil association dedicated to charitable, cultural, social, and recreational activities. Financially and administratively independent, the Society exists to support, connect, and enrich the British and Commonwealth community in Rio de Janeiro, while fostering friendship, understanding, and meaningful engagement within the wider Brazilian community.
OUR OBJECTIVES
1. Building Community
To provide a welcoming, secure, and vibrant centre for the British and Commonwealth community in the State of Rio de Janeiro by offering leadership, organising community activities, and raising funds to sustain and develop these initiatives.

4. Celebrating Cultural Exchange
To foster understanding and appreciation of Brazilian culture and environment within the British and Commonwealth community through inclusive cultural, educational, and informative activities that encourage friendship, dialogue, and mutual understanding.
5. Promoting Meaningful Activities and Partnerships
To organise, support, and facilitate cultural, historical, educational, and informative projects and activities that reflect the Society’s mission, either independently or in partnership with organisations that share similar values and objectives, including participation in relevant public and private funding initiatives.

To manage responsibly the properties acquired by the British community in the State of Rio de Janeiro and held in trust by the Society, together with welfare funds and any assets or rights that contribute to advancing the Society’s mission and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
