REFUND POLICY

Refund Policy for the British and Commonwealth Society of Rio de Janeiro

BCS Rio offers clear refund guidelines for event contributions and donations to ensure fairness under Brazilian Consumer Defense Code (CDC) and applicable laws. This policy covers online contributions via bcsrio.org.br; no refunds apply to general memberships unless specified. All requests must be submitted in writing to bcsrio@bcsrio.org.br within the timelines below.

Event Refunds

Contributions for Events are generally non-refundable after purchase to support event planning, but exceptions apply: full refunds within 7 days of making the contribution if before the event date, or for cancellations/postponements by BCS Rio. Partial refunds (minus fees) may be granted for medical emergencies with proof. No refunds within 24 hours of the event or for no-shows.

Donations

Donations are voluntary, irrevocable contributions to our non-profit mission and are not eligible for refunds once processed, as they fund ongoing community programs. If a payment error occurs (e.g., duplicate charge), contact us within 30 days for reversal assistance via our payment processor.

Processing and Timeline

Approved refunds process within 10-15 business days to the original payment method. BCS Rio deducts any transaction fees. Force majeure events (e.g., pandemics) exempt us from refunds. Disputes unresolved after contacting us may go to Procon or courts in Rio de Janeiro.
