These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website bcsrio.org.br (the "Site") operated by the British and Commonwealth Society of Rio de Janeiro ("BCS Rio", "we", "us", or "our"), a non-profit cultural society promoting British-Commonwealth relations in Rio de Janeiro. By using the Site, registering for events, purchasing tickets, or making donations, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and applicable Brazilian laws including the Consumer Defense Code (CDC - Law No. 8.078/1990)
Use of the Website
You may use the Site for informational purposes, event registrations, ticket purchases, and donations only if you are at least 18 years old or have parental consent. Prohibited activities include unauthorized copying, hacking, or posting unlawful content. We reserve the right to suspend access for violations.
Event Tickets and Purchases
Tickets for events (e.g., social gatherings, lectures) are non-refundable except as required by law (e.g., event cancellation). Purchases are processed via third-party providers; you agree to their terms. Tickets are digital; present valid ID at entry. BCS Rio is not liable for event changes due to force majeure (e.g., weather, pandemics).
Donations
​Online donations are voluntary, irrevocable gifts to support BCS Rio's non-profit activities and are non-refundable once processed. We issue receipts for tax deductions where applicable under Brazilian law. Payment details are handled securely by processors like Stripe; BCS Rio does not store full card information.
Intellectual Property and Liability
All Site content (text, images, logos) is owned by BCS Rio or licensors; use requires permission. Liability is limited to direct damages up to ticket/donation value; we disclaim indirect losses. Events carry inherent risks; participants assume responsibility.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by Brazilian law, with Rio de Janeiro courts having exclusive jurisdiction. For complaints, contact us first at bcsrio@bcsrio.org.br.​
