The first BCS Choir Festival was in 2015, and it has been an annual event ever since (with the exception of 3 pandemic years) The organizer and host has always been Martin Hester, with the support of the BCS and its Social Events team.

Martin invites choirs with a variety of vocal styles – The SCM sings from the traditional sacred music repertoire, the Coral Seresta sings romantic songs from Brazilian traditions, while Abstrasom and Quarta Aumentada sing Musica Popular Brasileira. The Beatles Choir sings four-part arrangements of Beatle songs from their extensive songbook.

The choirs are asked to perform about 5 songs each, and with a short transition from one to another, the event takes under 2 hours. The event is “acoustic”- unamplified voices and discreet accompaniment from piano or guitar.

The variety of musical styles, and the delight of the choir members in performing both make for an entertaining evening.

While most of the audience is made up of choir members, the BCS reserves space for Listeners at the front of the Hall.

Listeners (who may be BCS Members, or friends and family of choir members) should make a reservation. (click on “RSVP”). Your reservation will be checked at the Entrance to the event.

Choir members should not reserve.

It is usual for the Hall to be full and for some people standing may be necessary.
